¿Qué son los Derechos Humanos?

The protection of fundamental human rights was a foundation stone in the establishment of the United States over 200 years ago. Since then, it has been our right to promote and defend the respect for human rights, as embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We understand that the existence of human rights helps secure the peace, deter aggression, promote the rule of law, combat crime and corruption, strengthen democracies, and prevent humanitarian crises.

La protección de los Derechos Humanos fundamentales fué la piedra fundacional en el establecimiento de los Estados Unidos hace 200 años. Desde entonces, ha sido nuestro derecho el promover el respeto a los derechos humanos, como está definido en la Declaración de los Derechos Humanos Universales. Nosotros entendemos que la existencia de derechos humanos ayuda a asegurar la paz, evitar agresiones, promover la legalidad, combatir el crimen y la corrupción, fortalecer democracias, y prevenir crisis humanitarias.

Derechos Humanos has several projects that work to build solidarity and facilitate the empowerment of community.  Beyond educational work around abuse documentation and “Know Your Rights” trainings, we work to build coalitions with other social justice organizations and community groups.

Los Derechos Humanos tiene varios proyectos para construir la solidaridad y mejorar  el fortalecimiento de los derechos en nuestra comunidad. Aparte de trabajar educando acerca del abuso de indocumentados y entrenamientos para "Conocer sus Derechos", nosotros trabajamos construyendo coaliciones con otras organizaciones  y grupos comunitarios que trabajan por la justicia social.

Our projects are a reflection of this broad work, and a testimony to our commitment to participate in the creation of sustainable change.  We welcome all friends and allies who wish to join us in these efforts, and offer our solidarity to all people in struggle.
